Degaras Global Trading is a Mogadishu-headquartered international trading company connecting Somalia with markets across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
We import the energy systems, industrial equipment and capital goods that support Somalia's development, and export the country's livestock, agricultural, marine and mineral commodities to buyers worldwide. Since 2020 we have originated trade flows, structured import and export transactions and managed international projects alongside our principals and partners.
Long-standing relationships with manufacturers, buyers, carriers and financial institutions allow us to execute reliably in a market where local knowledge is decisive. Through our consultancy practice, we help international companies and investors enter, source from and invest in Somalia with confidence.
Leadership
Dr. Mohamed Ali Omar
Dr. Mohamed Ali Omar brings more than three decades of experience in international trade and China–Africa economic relations to Degaras Global Trading.
He holds a PhD in China–Africa economic cooperation from Wuhan University, where he also earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in World Economics. From 2015 to 2023 he served as Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Somalia in China, leading trade and investment exchanges between Somalia and its international partners.
Fluent in English and Chinese at native level, he works directly with manufacturers, buyers and investors across both languages. Today he leads Degaras Global Trading, bringing that experience and network to trade between Somalia and the world.
